NEW: Notes on the application of a standard

These notes are to be understood as an aid for possible ambiguities in the application of the German version of DIN EN ISO 18203 "Steel - Determination of the thickness of hardened surface layers", published in July 2022. They were suggested by those responsible for standards at the Working Group on Heat Treatment and Materials Technology (AWT) and coordinated with Technical Committees 3, 4 and 9 of the AWT.

Safety recommendations

Heat treatment plants are subject to a wide variety of accident hazards. The AWT Expert Committee 8 Safety in Heat Treatment Plants has set itself the goal of working through safety-relevant issues and providing assistance in solving safety-related questions. The history of hardening

How could heat treatment develop from its initial inaccessibility into a significant branch of industry. This question leads to the roots, but also helps to determine the current state of the art. It will be traced using the example of hardening from ancient times to the present day. Härterei Gerster AG, publisher of this book, was able to win as author Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hans Berns (1935-2013), who spent half of his professional life in the steel industry and half at the Ruhr University in Bochum.

You can obtain this interesting book by the Adolf Martens Medal winner from the AWT office at a price of € 29 (+ VAT and shipping costs).
