An international highlight for science and industry! The 82nd AWT Heat Treatment Congress will take place in parallel with the 31st IFHTSE World Congress, the European Heat Treatment Conference (ECHT) 2026 and the 4th Steel Innovation Conference. Together, these events form one of the most important international platforms for heat treatment, materials technology, manufacturing and process engineering. In 2026, the event will be organized in close cooperation with the International Federation for Heat Treatment and Surface Engineering (IFHTSE) and the European heat treatment associations from France, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and the Benelux countries. The extensive congress program with numerous international presentations will extend over three days and offer valuable insights into the latest scientific and industrial developments.

Case hardening, i.e. the combination of carburizing and hardening, is the process of choice when it comes to achieving maximum strength. In order to use case hardening sensibly and to be able to compare different process variants with each other, basic knowledge of materials and process engineering is required. This seminar focuses on gas and low-pressure carburizing.

The seminar teaches the basics of metallography and explains the relationships between the various structural elements and their properties.

The practical seminar teaches the basics of technical heat treatment and its processes. Participants should gain an understanding of how to select and assess suitable heat treatment processes, recognize the limits and errors and understand the effects on the functionality or failure of components and apply them in practice.
